Tonight I had my first New Media Applications class. I wasn’t sure what to expect going into the class, but I ended up really enjoying it.
Basically, we’re going to be looking at new media from all angles; we’ll be starting with old media (newspapers, television, radio, etc) and studying the emergence of new media (social media platforms, smart phones, etc) in relation to old media.
Overall I think it’s going to be an extremely interesting class, especially because I was thinking that maybe social media may be my focus. I’m interested in looking at social media from a corporate perspective: how can social media be used within a corporation? How can companies use social media and new media to reach out to their target market?
(Fun side note: the Disney Internships I applied for are all related to communications, many with a minor social media focus.)
I think this whole grad school thing was a really good idea, and I’m looking forward to where the semester will take me. 🙂
